COPPER OCCURENCE AND PRODUCTION
Major profitable copper deposits can be divided into 3 main groups being sedimentary copper deposits, porphyry copper deposits and massive sulphite deposits... 60% world’s copper production comes from porphyry while sediment-hosted deposits   account for up to 25% of world’s production and volcanic massive sulphite and others supplying 15%.

Turkey’s important copper reserves are located in Black Sea and South East Anatolian regions. Murgul, Çayeli-Madenköy, Lahanos, Ergani, Siirt-Madenköy, Cerattepe and Küre are all known to have important copper reserves.

650  copper occurrences  studied in Turkey,  which is situated in Alpine Orogeny belt  are  seen inside  4 main metallogenic  province.
